About Project

Built in 1905 and Canada’s first purpose-built National Museum, this massive stone structure is an excellent example of early 20th-century architecture in Ottawa. It includes 15,000 m2 of renovation and a 2,332 m2 south addition.
The inclusion of a 20 metre “glass lantern” with its butterfly staircase honours the demolished stone tower that was delivered as a Design Bid Build project. Hanscomb’s services include Master Plan Estimating, Cost Planning and Control, Value Management and Applied Research.
